Come Prepared for Your ATL Kayak Tour

Paddling through the canals of Xochimilco is one of the most relaxing and unique ways to experience Mexico City. To make sure you enjoy every moment, a little preparation goes a long way. Here are our top tips to come ready for your ATL tour:

  • Dress in layers and be ready for any weather – Mornings can be chilly, but paddling warms you up. Bring a light jacket or sweatshirt you can remove if it gets warmer, choose quick-drying clothes in case you get splashed, and consider a lightweight rain jacket for unexpected changes.
  • Protect yourself from the sun – Sunscreen, a sombrero or cap, and sunglasses are must-haves, even on cloudy days.
  • Mosquito protection – We’re on the water and surrounded by nature, so a little insect repellent keeps things comfortable.
  • Stay hydrated – Bring a reusable water bottle to stay refreshed while you paddle.
  • Bring an extra set of clothes – Accidents happen, and paddling might get you a little wet. Having something dry for the end of the tour is a lifesaver.
  • Rest well the night before – Being alert and energized makes the tour even more fun.
  • Comfortable footwear – Shoes that can get wet or slip on easily work best.
  • Enjoy the nature and memories – We take photos of the whole experience and share them on our socials, usually by the end of the day. If you want to use your phone, make sure it’s protected in a waterproof bag.
  • Follow your guide’s instructions – For safety and the best experience, listen to tips on paddling and navigating the waterways.

With these simple tips, your ATL kayak adventure will be smooth, safe, and unforgettable.
